If you send your emails using Mailbutler's Tracking feature, your emails are being marked as read as soon as your recipients open them. In order to prevent you from triggering email openings yourself while checking your own sent emails, Mailbutler has implemented a self-tracking prevention mechanism.

Self-tracking prevention prevents you from triggering email openings when:

  • you check your own sent emails in your sent folder.
  • you check your own sent emails from a different device than the one you have sent the emails from - provided that you have Mailbutler installed on that device.
  • you check your own sent emails in the Mailbutler mobile app.
  • you send an email to another email account of yours and open it there (on the same or on a different device) - provided that you are logged in with your Mailbutler account there.

Self-tracking prevention does not apply when:

  • you check your own sent emails on a different device than the one you have sent the emails from - if you don't have Mailbutler installed on that device.
  • you check your own sent emails in the native email app on your phone (where Mailbutler cannot be installed).
  • you send an email to another email account of yours and open it there (on the same or on a different device) - if you are not logged in with your Mailbutler account there.

If you want to test Tracking, we recommend sending an email to our test account
alex@mailbutler.io. Your email will be opened automatically straight away.
